Shania Dennall

Niagara Falls, ON

Shania Dennall (she/her) is originally from Sheffield, UK, and currently resides in Niagara Falls, Ontario, on the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and the Anishinaabe peoples. Growing up with the Peak District on her doorstep, Shania developed a deep connection to the natural world and an early sense of urgency to protect it.

Since moving to Canada, Shania has worked with non-profit and grassroots organizations supporting refugees, newcomers, and unhoused communities. Her work centres on advocacy, policy engagement and community-led initiatives. Alongside her professional work, Shania is an active volunteer and community organizer. She is a volunteer for the Toronto Environmental Alliance and an active member of Toronto Community Benefits Network’s Youth Policy Table, where she helps amplify the voices of Toronto’s youth and advocates for green building practices. Shania’s passion for environmental justice also extends into her work in film and television. Through her role at an independent entertainment company, she has received sustainability training for film sets through Ontario Creates, deepening her understanding of how creative industries can respond to the climate emergency.

Through this internship, Shania hopes to bridge her community work and environmental advocacy to help build lasting, equitable climate solutions that ensure marginalized voices are meaningfully included in climate decision-making.

“I am excited to learn about municipal processes while contributing to climate strategies within my local community.”
