Our campaign invites Canadians to send their elected officials a bouquet and the message that you want Canada to step up the scale and pace of climate action, including fossil fuel phase-out, scaling net-zero energy sources, and doing our fair share as a wealthy nation on the world’s stage.

Consider these November 2023 report findings:

According to the United Nations Environment Program’s (UNEP) latest Emissions Gap report, the world is projected to see warming by as much as 2.9 C by the end of the century, largely because current and planned coal, oil and gas projects would emit 3.5 times more carbon than scientists say is possible if we want to limit warming to 1.5 C.

UNEP’s Production Gap report projected an increase in Canada’s oil production by 25% over 2022 levels by 2035 - and we’re already the fourth largest producer in the world!

In his recent audit of the government’s 2030 Emission Reduction Plan, Canada’s Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development, Jerry DeMarco, found Canada is on pace to miss our 2030 target to cut carbon emissions by at least 40% below 2005 levels by 2030 and hasn’t “identified or prioritized” the most important measures to reduce emissions.
Elected leaders tell us time and again that they don’t hear enough from their constituents about climate action. But they hear from the oil and gas lobbyists every day. According to tracking from Environmental Defence, the fossil fuel industry met with government representatives an average of 6 times per day in May 2023.
