Sasha Emery

Sasha Emery (she/they) is a francophone youth born in NWT and raised on the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta’an Kwäch’än Council (Whitehorse, Yukon). She completed a BA in environmental studies at the University of Ottawa. Her climate activism primarily involves advocating for the needs of Northern communities, which disproportionately face the effects of climate change, as a member of the Prime Minister's Youth Council and the Natural Resources Canada Youth Council. She is passionate about the intersectionality within the climate movement and how the UN's Sustainable Development Goals can shape new pathways.

She strives to make decision-making spaces more accessible for young people and has represented Canadian youth interests at the 2024 UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. In 2024, she was named one of Starfish Canada's Top 25 Environmentalists Under 25. She looks forward to learning more about how policy work can help us create the change we want to see in the world. Sasha is placed with MP Peter Schiefke (Vaudreuil, Chair - Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities).
