Kessiena Kama

Kessiena Kama (she/her) is an environmental professional dedicated to intersectional climate policy. Originally from Nigeria, Kessiena moved to Charlottetown in 2021, graduating from the University of Prince Edward Island with a B.Sc. in Environmental Studies (Environmental Innovation and Change Management). Her lifelong bond with nature fuels her core philosophy: people are a part of nature, not apart from it.

Having witnessed how governance shapes daily life across two continents, Kessiena focuses on how environmental choices are made. She has examined climate policy through a gender-equity lens with the PEI Coalition for Women's Leadership and brought vital youth and equity perspectives to the Government of PEI’s Net Zero Action Plan panel. Once a young person unsure of how to break into governance, she is now a passionate mentor. She aims to use her experience on Parliament Hill to empower the next generation of environmental stewards.
