Kil Daagwiiya

Kil Daagwiiya grew up on Haida Gwaii, where the Haida people have lived since time immemorial. Their commitment to environmental stewardship began at birth, deeply shaped by Haida ways of being and the foundational principle of Yahguudang (respect for all living things).

They later moved to the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations (Vancouver) to attend Simon Fraser University, where are studying for their degree in Political Science and Indigenous Studies. While at SFU, Kil Daagwiiya served as a board member for the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Student Association, actively advocating for Indigenous students on campus.

As a member of the Haida Gwaii Youth Council, they are passionate about Indigenous land rights, water protection, and building climate-resilient communities. Kil Daagwiiya is thrilled to deepen their understanding of governance processes as a PIE intern and working towards becoming an even stronger voice for environmental rights. In their free time, they enjoy watching movies and connecting with the land.
